If you don’t have the time to make the complete trek to Everest Base Camp this might be the next best thing. The highlight of the trek is the views of Everest and Ama Dablam from just above Namche Bazaar. The trek starts with a short exciting flight to the small mountain airstrip at Lukla from where you will trek to Phakding. The next day is a beautiful day of trekking up the canyon of the Dudh Kosi which involves crossing several suspension bridges before you make the steep climb to Namche Bazaar.

2) Ghandruk Trek

Annapurna region trekking is one of the most popular trekking destinations in the world. In Annapurna trekking region, there is Annapurna conservation area project that looks the development of this region and controls the minimum impact of code. Annapurna conservation area project was established in 1986 by the government of Nepal. The total area of the conserve region is about 7629 square kilometer. The unique biodiversity, spectacular scene of the Snow Mountains, Flora/fauna and multi tribes of people are the measure attractions of this area. Make sure to get a soak in the hot springs at Tadapani on the way back down.

4) Langtang Trek

The Langtang trek to the base of Langtang Himal offers the shortest approach to snow-white mountains from Kathmandu. This is a great trek for those starting from Kathmandu and can be accomplished in less than a week. It’s a 6 hour drive to the remote hill station of Syabrubesi from where the trek begins. The trek takes you up the beautiful canyon of the Langtang Khola. While you won’t see any 8000m peaks Langtang Lirung (7227m), the worlds 99th tallest peak, is impressive enough. Upon reaching the upper valley make sure to make a morning hike to Kyanjin Ri (4773m / 15655 ft) for a beautiful view of the peaks of Langtang Himal and the surrounding glaciers and ice falls.

5) Poon Hill Trek

This trek is one of the most popular short treks of in Nepal. Poon Hill Trek is a family friendly trek in which many families from around the world take part every year. It starts from Pokhara and if you want to see some of Nepal’s big peaks up close it’s the best opt ion for a short trek. The view from Poon Hill (3210m/10531ft) takes in Annapurna South, Annapurna I and Dhaulagiri. The first few days the trail makes a steady climb between the small Sherpa villages. The second night can be spent in Tadapani which offers great views of Annapurna II, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Machapuchare which is also known as “Fish Tail.” If you bring some swimwear you can make the short hike down to the river to enjoy the hot springs in Tadapani. It’s another day’s climb from Tadapani to Ghorepani from where the following morning you hike to Poon Hill to catch the sunrise on the Himalayas.
