After a pleasant overnight stop at Pokhara facing views of Annapurna Himalaya range of mountains with Machhapuchare peaks 'Fish Tail', having hearty breakfast in the hotel then drive beyond Pokhara to commence our first day walks.

Journey with grand views of Annapurna heading past farm villages and towns and then reaching Bhirethati, one of the most charming village around Annapurna area.

From here walk starts following Modi River for short walk around low and warmer farm areas and then on stone steps uphill to reach at Gurung village Ghandruk.

At Ghandruk overnight in a nice comfortable lodge with view of Annapurna peaks with time to visit around this nice Gurung village, which is also a gateway to many trekking and adventure around Annapurna areas.

From Ghandruk morning walk up at the village top and then on gradual path for short-while soon our route picks to a climb to reach at Kimrong Danda (ridge) with some Tea-House and Lodge. Here with short break downhill into cool forested trails to reach the valley floor of Kimrong River with its nice farm village located in this peaceful valley, from here climbs starts for an hour or more to reach a hill top.

After the climb on gradual winding path paved with fine stone work to reach above Chomrong village and then a short descend to reach our overnight place within nice and large village of Chomrong. A large Gurung village similar to Ghandruk which is the last permanent human settlement on route to Annapurna base camp within sanctuary.

After Chomrong on downhill to cross a bridge over Chomrong river with uphill to Sinuwa danda (ridge) with couple of Tea-House and shops, where walk leads into deep forested areas on winding ups and then descend into dense woodland with bamboo grooves to a place called also as Bamboo.

A small settlement to cater the needs of the trekkers with many good lodges located in a river gorge surrounded by forest of rhododendron-pines and bamboo.

From the Bamboo place walk is gradual into woods with easy ups to reach at Dovan for overnight stops in a small remote and isolated place with few lodges for travelers.

Slowly our adventure leads closer to our aim and highlight as walk leads into winding ups into forest past a lonely place called Himalaya Hotel, located next to large overhanging cave Hinko which is directly beneath Annapurna South and Huin-Chuli peaks.

From Himalaya Hotel downhill near Modi River then with short climb to reach at Deurali where tall tree lines stops for short alpine bushes, walk carries on uphill following Modi river right up to our overnight stop at Machhapuchare base camp located at the bottom of majestic North Face of Machhapuchare Himal ‘Fish Tail’.

An easy and short day morning walk to Annapurna base camp, as from Machhapuchare where Annapurna Sanctuary starts right up to base camp, walk leads to short ups to reach a level ground on a huge field or a plateau within Sanctuary enclosed by array of peak and soon walk leads to a welcome sign-post of Annapurna Base Camp.

Short Annapurna Base Camp Trekking

Most Common FAQs

We have planned the itinerary days and program so that people with short frame of time can enjoy the walks to Annapurna Base Camp, allows you to stand right in the heart of massive Annapurna Himalaya at base camp.

From minimum 3-4 hrs to maximum of 6-7 hrs, that is why we designed this trekking shorter days programs where all can join requires good physical fitness to cope with long uphill and downhill walks.

On this trek around main villages we provide excellent lodge where available as per the budget and cost of the trek, either with rooms attached bath / toilets or common.

But from Chomrong village onward where choice of facilities lacks due to limited numbers of lodge on each day walks, but be glad that where on this world one can find a nice and cozy right next and beneath world’s highest peaks.

Which you can find only on Annapurna Base Camp at the height of 4,130 m where room faces tremendous views of high peaks and surrounding beautiful landscapes.

Tea-House Trekking an old word, when much commercial trekking was not popular in the Himalaya, where camping was more popular due to lack of tea-house and lodge in villages on route.

Tea-House is simple shops with rooms to shelter travelers with basic facilities providing simple local meals, as trekking became more popular around the region where Tea-House turned into better lodge to provide great comfort of travelers.

05: What about safe drinking water?

Water is the main cause for health risk on mountains or in third world developing countries; we are extremely take care where in camping all drinking waters are thoroughly boiled to high temperatures and the cooling off to provide guest to pour in the water bottles.

While on Tea-House Treks the lodge owner or our guide will make sure that drinking water provided is safe to drink after its been boiled, filtered and ready for drinking, some areas in Annapurna do have safe drinking water post provided by local community known as ACAP (Annapurna Conservation Project) charging minimum price for a liter.

We totally disapprove plastic bottle to buy and drink, pollution to the environment as long one will use and re-cycle it, plastic bottle water we allow sometime unless people are desperate for drinking due to under de-hydration condition, or in ill health on walks.

Meals provided from the lodge where most of lodge owner family member cooks meals for the guest where some high standard lodge, a cook is hired from cities to give the best to the customers from famous Nepalese Dal Bhat (boiled rice with lentil soup and semi spicy vegetable or meat curries).

Includes Tibetan, Chinese to Continental dishes as well in the menu, where fresh vegetables and fruits depend upon season wise and availability.

Meals according to the list of menu provided, where some vegetable and fresh fruits depend upon seasons, all meals are well cooked and hygienically prepared so that customers can come back and use the same lodge and restaurants and keep the business flowing, flourishing.

For larger groups it is best to have set meals as this save time and energy and much better for all including the lodge owner.

Amazing trek with this company!! I wouldn’t do it with anyone else. Our guide Nirmal was the best!

This company goes above and beyond! They think of every detail and take care of all the trekking needs including accommodations, food, water tablets, medical emergencies, etc. Our guide Nirmal was extremely familiar with the trail, he was attentive - making sure everyone was taken care of, made us laugh the entire way, gave great advice/tips/recommendations for a successful trek, generous (carried some of the day packs up when they were feeling tired), encouraged us and more! I was so impressed with how well thought out everything was and I loved that I didn’t have to worry about the details and all I had to do was show up. The other guides and porters were all just as fun, thoughtful, and accommodating. I would highly recommended these guys for the EBC trek!

Best trek in the world

In March i completed the Everest High Pass trek with Trekking Planner and had all the support i needed from Trekking planner from planning the trip, to arriving in Nepal and then completing the trek. I had an amazing guide in Gyeljen, whose knowledge of the area was the best! This meant I was able to make it over the passes when many other groups didn't due to the weather. He helped with all the accommodation and provided great advice to help me deal with the altitude and very cold weather as these were a new challenge to me. The whole team and Dipak were very welcoming and funny and this meant the trek and then the visit to Chitwan afterwards was one of the best experiences of my life! Would highly recommend and planning to return sometime soon.

Sam B,

Best Guide for trekking in the Himalyas

Everest Base Camp is such an amazing trek, but to have the best, kindest and funniest guide, who encouraged our team all the way and back, made my trek extra special. Nirmal Lamichhane your knowledge of all the mountains are incredible and you knew everyone on the trek. Watching you interact with the rest of the guides, they clearly have great respect for you. You are a natural leader. You are ambitious and know where you want to be in the future and I applaud you for studying while doing treks and taking people up into the mountains.

I enjoyed your stories and games along the way especially the last 2 hours before reaching Namche when it was up, up and up (your way of saying it is very steep). When I fell ill and gotten worse you were there all the way alongside me to help and encourage. The morning after reaching Base Camp when I was faced with being evacuated from Gorakshep, you told me that you believe that I could finish the trek and you would be there all the way if I choose to do so. Seeing the helicopter leave was hard but you believed in me and it made all the difference. Thank you so much.

Nirmal carried my bag on our decent in order for me to be able to breath better (I had bad flue, borderline bronchitis). Out of his own pocket, he bought us Fanta, lollypops, gum .... anything to lift moral on the last day down to Lukla. Our group had such fun with Nirmal.

If ever you need a guide, Nirmal is the perfect man for your trek. He does varies treks into the mountains, not only to Base Camp. Mountain expert, clued-up with flights to/ from Lukla, knows everyone and teahouses, can help with last minute gear, great knowledge about altitude sickness and knows how to take great photos (and how to pose, lol).

TrakkingPlanner and Travel Her Way are very lucky to have Nirmal as a guide.

The organising of my trip was great. Before leaving the UK, all my emails were answered promptly. Collecting from the airport, great accommodation in Kathmandu and the tea houses we stayed at on our trek was great. We were taken to a welcoming dinner at a local Nepali restaurant. What an experience. They also arrange for a farewell dinner back in Kathmandu - all included in the price. The care and detail was appreciated. Fruit and biscuits at dinner while on the trek- and the guides carried all of it all the way. Taking our oxygen levels after every meal to make sure we were in great shape.

All in all I had the best experience! Thank you Trekking Planner.

Janettie W,

I have just had the best travel experience of my life.

What a trip!

What a great buch of guys at Nepal Trekking Planner!

Dipak and his team made my trip so easy, simple and enjoyable - I can't still hardly believe it.

I felt totally safe and fully supported - which was a big thing for me as I was unsure how the high altitude would affect me. I needn't have worried as my guide Ananta and porter Ganesh were brilliant - really helpful, patient and firendly. Every night my blood/oxygen saturation was checked which gave me real confidence. Not many of the guides from different agencies were doing this which suprised me a little.

I had 16 days in the mountains and enjoyed every minute. As things became harder or easier, my intinery was flexible with Ananta very willing recommmend alternatives and to make changes to suit. This made a real difference and I really felt that I got the most from my trek.

I'm not one for recommending and over-praising but Dipak, Ananta and Ganesh all went the extra mile to make it all very special indeed.

Well done guys and (funds permitting) see you next year!

Brilliant service

Just finished the EBC trip with Trekking Planner. Brilliant service from Prajol in Kathmandu who covered my every need with cheerfulness. My guide on the trek, Sudip, was excellent throughout ensuring I made it to Kala Pattar despite a severe headache. He was great fun and was ably supported by Damact (?) as my porter. All in all I really aprecated the service from Dipak and his team and recommend them wholeheartedly.
