Difficulties rating of Tamang Heritage Trek

A trekker should be fit to do this trekking. Maximum altitude of the trek is 4984 m, so you should be careful about altitude risk. To get rid of it please walks slowly and has more water and avoids alcoholic drinks. You must take care of your health.

Safe drinking water on Tamang Heritage Trekking
Basically, we can get mineral water bottles in lower places but as we go higher cannot find it. In that case we suggest you to drink boiled water which may charge small fee, found in tea houses and better to bring chlorine tablets to purify water. Due to no provision of plastic bottles better to use boiled rather than mineral water, helpful for protection of environment.

Recharging Batteries of Electronic Items on Tamang Heritage Trek
Hydro electricity or solar power sources are used to charge your electrical items like camera, batteries, iPod, phone etc. Tea houses or lodges may charge small fee per hours for charging facilities. Better to buy adaptors before the trip since plugs are limited. In Nepal 220-240 volt power is used and sockets fit round and flat plugs.

Garbage Disposal
Use a dustbins and do not throw anything into the fire. Carry garbage’s in the way where dustbin facilities are not available and conserve the environment.

Spending Money per Day
It mainly depends upon spending habits, normally you should allocate US$ 9-12 per meal in Kathmandu and Pokhara. On trekking, US$ 10-14 a day is good enough to buy drinks and chocolates.

Travel Insurance for Tamang Heritage Trek
You should be sufficiently protected and need to have travel insurance that covers emergency evacuation, lost items, liabilities, injuries and medical treatment. Ensure the insurance covers all the activities in the Himalayas. Trekking Planner can offer the appropriate medical response based on your policy and insurance.

Washing and Toilet facilities for Tamang Heritage Trek
All the guest houses offers hot showers, which can be in bathroom or can be a bucket of hot water. Please note that at high altitude there may not be enough hot water for all the trekkers. Limit the use of hot water unless the water is solar heated or firewood for the ecological reason. Every lodge has some kind of washing facilities but you must carry a bar of soap. If the water gets froze then ask your guide to get warm bowl of water.
Toilets are mainly Asian squat style. Basically toilet is outside your room and varies in how clean they are. You should not through toilet paper in the toilet hole rather you should use rubbish bin that is kept inside the toilet.

Tea Houses
On this trekking route local people have built tea houses lodge with food and beverage facilities. A simple room usually has two narrow beds. While staying in the tea houses you will see the charming local people with their good hospitality services.

Later in the afternoon we shall have a pre-trek meeting with the trekking guide to have the necessary information for the trek beginning the next day. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Today we shall head for the beginning point of the trekking in marvelous Langtang valley, the hill town of Syabrunbesi. Beginning from Kathmandu we travel through Trishuli to reach our destination. Through rural settlements, lush valleys and green hills, perennial rivers and vast landscape, this drive offers to the travelers the view of majestic mountains including the Manaslu Peak, Langtang Himal, Ganesh Himal and others. The road till Trishuli is quite smooth till Trishuli after which we take on the route along the Betrawati River in a rough road to reach the destination of Syabrunbesi. We stay overnight here and start our adventure from this place tomorrow. Overnight in Syabrunbesi.

Starting the journey to explore the rich and authentic Tamang culture, we shall begin our Tamang heritage trail from Syabrunbesi. In the beginning, we shall have a short climb of around half an hour and then a rather steep climb of around 3 hours to the height of Rongga Bhanjyang we shall have the view of mountain ranges including the Ganesh Himal, Gosaikunda range and the breathtaking view of Goljang valley. After this place, we shall have a descent to the Goljang village for our lunch and much-needed stoppage. Taking some rest and refreshments we proceed to our destination for today in a gentle uphill climb to the traditionally rich village of Gatlang. En route, we pass through a lake and apple farm, lush and rolling hills and viewpoints of mountains as well as numerous Buddhist chortens and Mani walls. This Tamang village of Gatlang offers visitors with the local Syabru dance, delicious cuisine, and authentic lifestyle which have the well-preserved tamang culture and tradition. Stay overnight in Gotlang village.

The highlight for today is the natural hot springs at Tatopani which is believed by the locals to have some healing power from skin diseases. The trek for today shall start with the descent from the village of Gotlang through the Buddhist chortens and prayer flags, small stream and settlements, as well as the views of Ganesh Himal and Langtang range to reach Thangbuchet, a village near the Chilime village and by the mighty Bhotekoshi River. Trekking past the hydropower dam we cross the Chilime River on suspension bridge and ascent the ridges, terraced landscapes in a trek of an hour and half to reach Goonggang village for lunch. With the view of waterfalls and greenery, we have a gentle trek as we bypass the springs, forests and lush hills to ascend to the Tatopani village. We then proceed to the hot springs and relax by taking a dip in this hot spring. After trekking for 6-7 hours and having a much-needed bath in the natural hot spring, we stay overnight in Tatopani village.

After one of the most strenuous sections in this trek, we have relatively less strenuous trek today. We shall take on one of the alternative trails to reach our destination. Continuing through the forest and the view of the peaks of Ganesh Himal and Langtang range, we ascent to one of the highest pass in the surrounding areas, the place called Nagthali. This small village was once popular as the favorite place of the monks and priests for meditation and currently serves as the panoramic viewpoint of popular peaks including the Kerung, Sanjen range, Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal and others. From this point of around 3000 meters, we descent slowly and gradually to a Tamang settlement heavily influenced by Tibetan culture and may have view of Gray Langur Monkeys en route. This settlement is nothing but our destination of Thuman, a village rich in monasteries and houses with carvings in the wooden pillars and other parts of the home. Overnight in Thuman in a teahouse.

The trek deeper into the valley of Langtang continues as the trekkers head for Timure village and the historical war place of Rasuwgadhi. Marching forward in the ancient salt trade route, we trek along the mighty Bhote Koshi River. En route there are some villages influenced by Tibetan culture and tradition besides the distinct Tamang culture, prayer flags, dense forest and vegetation, suspension bridge and hot spring before we reach the Timure village. Trekkers further move on past this village to explore the historical fortress at Rasuwagadhi. After witnessing the proud historical heritage of Nepal which witnessed the fearsome battle with Tibet in the history, we trace our steps to the village of Timure along the river, across a bridge and through trail surrounded by forest. Stay overnight in Timure, a village that has Border Administration Office to regulate the visit to the bordering areas of Tibet.

We trek along the trail above the Bhote Koshi River in a gradual descent to Lingling crossing over a small stream with short ups and downs en route. Famous for traditional home-stay, comfortable accommodation, and delicious cuisine, Lingling is almost the middle of this trek. After an hour of descent to Lingling village on a footpath, we now prepare for ascent along the trail to Bridim. We meander gradually on a bit strenuous uphill climb on a ridge across the Bridim River and past the pelok view restaurant to reach the Tamang village of Bridim. This scenic village is famous for warm hospitality, unique local rituals, delicious cuisines, cultural dances and folklores, local made products and Dukchu Monastery. Overnight stay in Bridim.

In a short trekking section in Syabrubesi we have an overall descent through the rhododendron bushes as we reach to the only major settlement as we reach the Wangel after exploring the surrounding of Bridim. After Wangel the trek is rather parallel to the torrential Bhote Koshi River. Exploring the terraced landscape, villages and witnessing the marvelous mountains we reach the destination of Syabrubesi. This trek of around 4 hours marks the end of our trekking experience in the Langtang valley. Tomorrow we shall be off to Kathmandu. Stay overnight in Syabrubesi at teahouse.

Today we wrap up the physical trekking in the beautiful Langtang region and drive to the medieval capital city of Kathmandu. This drive takes you through the marvelous views of snow-capped mountains, lush green hills and valleys, terraced landscape and rural villages, besides the warm and hospitable locals if you make your effort to interact with them. We drive through the dusty and rough till Betrawati while the remaining section of the drive is on a well paved road. After reaching Kathmandu, you may go for souvenir shopping for the near and dear ones in your native place. Stay overnight in Kathmandu.

Your trek in the Tamang community dominated region comes to an end today as you leave for your respective destinations. Check for anything that might have been left when you were packing up your luggage. You will be escorted to the international airport for your flight at least three hours prior to the scheduled time. We hope for your safe and comfortable fight and hope that the memories created in this trek shall bring back you to Nepal for another adventure.

Most Common FAQs

According to the location the tea houses vary on their quality and style on this trek. Basically they have communal room downstairs with one or two bed bedroom above them. You have to use share toilet but nowadays in low levels attached toilet is found and some have hot shower facilities but some will have stand pipes. Tea houses use a type of burning stove in main communal area and other room is unheated. Tea houses do not have money exchange facilities. Trekking Planner recommend you to exchange cash in Kathmandu valley.
At the lower altitudes there are electricity facilities whereas as we go higher tea houses become more basic. As cooler temperature drain battery life, ensure your batteries last a little longer by putting it inside pocket of your coat or under your pillow.

No, as there is enough time to acclimatize while trekking it felt there is no need for them. If someone feels the affects of altitude then there are facilities along the trek at various point and its easy to get.

A group will have a group leader or a guide who will lead you on the trek. Porters will be there to carry your baggage packs and all the camping gear. One porter will carry two trekker’s baggages. A number of supporting staff will depend upon your group size.

Mostly 3-4 liters is sufficient. You will be able to refill bottles at lunch time. When you are in high altitude you have to drink more water to get rid of altitude diseases.

Yes, Trekking Poles make you easy to walk in the rough ways. Trekking poles makes your body and leg to move more safely. So, we suggest you to use it.

Mainly tea houses on the way have stores which sell bottled water and other supplies that may be needed for you on the trek. There are no any plastic recyclable facilities in Nepal, we encourage you to bring chlorine tablets and use filter water in the teahouses.

You have to bring iodine tablet with you. Chlorine tablets are widely available. The most effective and commonly used version of chlorine is chlorine dioxide, which is tasteless and odorless. Tablets can be bought cheaply and usually 1 tablet is sufficient to purify 1 liter of water. Neutralizing tablets can also be bought to get rid of the smell and taste of chlorine or iodine. This will need to be done for water obtained using hand pumps or streams in the Trek.

Altitude produces physical changes in the body. Higher you go, more pronounced those changes. If after gaining a lot of elevation in a hurry, you experience dizziness, nausea, headaches, and dehydration, you are probably suffering from altitude sickness. In rare cases this may worsen, so a close watch is kept on all trekkers by the Group Leader who is trained to recognize Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). If trekkers show any signs of AMS they will be evacuated to a lower, safe altitude immediately. To minimize effects of altitude you ascend slowly which allows safe acclimatization.

It depends on the nature of your illness. If you suddenly feel dizzy or weak, you have to sit or lie down. If you still feel sick, keep a warm and quiet until you can get medical help. You will carry down if no progress we advise travelers to take a personal kit too.
In serious cases, you need helicopter rescue. Our guide will suggest you to use it if its very serious. So, helicopter rescue insurance is necessary for every trekker before you come to trek in this trek.

The weather is changeable in the Himalaya so you can expect to experience four seasons in one day. Make sure you have plenty of warm layers which you can shed or add as required. While even in winter it can be as warm as 19C during the day, the higher the altitude, the colder the temperature and when high up the temperature drops significantly at night to around -10C in October/November, and to around -20C from December to February.

Alcohol is consumed in Nepal. You can buy it in tea houses in the trek. Local alcohol is also available. However we suggest you not to drink alcohol at high altitude.

Everest Base Camp Trek

Great - 3 of us left the UK arriving in Kathmandu with great expectations. With hundreds of Trekking companies to choose from we were fortunate to find Trekking Planner Nepal. Great team they all performed way beyond our expectations, fantastic service, nothing was a problem and always happy. If you are heading into Nepal give them a call 5* doesn't seem enough, thank you for great times and memory's

Everest View Trek

There are no words that can adequately describe the experience we had on the Everest View Trek (Lukla, Namche, Tengboche, the Dudh Kosi River and all the places in between). The word "Awesome" falls considerably short in describing our experience. My wife and I were recently married and from our first date we both had always wanted to trek in the Himalayas. Deepak was the catalyst that made our Trek one of the most tremendous experiences of our lives. He was knowledgeable about the the mountains and the cultures. He is also a very enjoyable person to be with. And that in and of itself is extremely important if you plan any type of extended Trek. My wife and I were lucky we had the chance to have Deeps as our guide. We still keep in contact with Deeps and have recommended him to friends. Our hope is to someday get back to Nepal, and when we do, there is only one person I would want for our guide.

Jomsom Trek

We had a good trip in Nepal last year on part of the Annapurna circuit, the Jomsom trek, with Dipak as our guide. His experience and knowledge of the area is second to none and when we return to Nepal we will certainly be contacting him again. We received a first-class, personal service and, remarks from other visitors we met in various tea houses who had booked with other trekking companies, were that our package was superior to theirs. For a reliable service and interesting trek we strongly recommend this guide and his team.

Everest Base Camp Trek

Two tailor-made treks in the Nepal regions "Everest Base Camp Trek & Jungle Safari in Chitwan" We researched many companies to book our EBC trek and after exchanged e-mails with Dipak he helped plan our EBC trek, tour in Kathmandu and Jungle Safari in Chitwan in a professional, helpful and organized manner.

On arrival in Kathmandu, we were greeted at the airport with a friendly, warm welcome from Dipak and he helped settle us in at our hotel and took us out for a traditional Nepalese meal as well as organizing a day tour with guide of Kathmandu.

Dipak's organization of our EBC trek was wonderful and the guide he supplied on the trek was informative, friendly and very organized in looking after us, making sure we had enough food, tea, and a decent bed for the night after a long day walking. The trek was beautiful and we had an amazing experience. We went back to Kathmandu after the trek was finished and Dipak greeted us and hear about our adventure and keep us informed about our next part of the trip - Jungle Safari in Chitwan.

We stayed in Chitwan National Park for 4 nights 3 days and stayed at a lovely lodge by the river just outside the town. We went on Elephant safari, Jungle walks, bird watching, canoeing, traditional evening performance and much needed relaxing after our EBC trek. We had lovely accommodation and by the river and very helpful staff who looked after our every need. It was our first visit to Nepal and Dipak made our trip hassle free, organized and all with a warm welcome which meant we could enjoy our trek to the fullest.

I would recommend Dipak and Trekking Planner services and I myself would love to return to complete some Annapurna trekking in the future and will be using Trekking Planner Nepal to do so. Many thanks for such a brilliant holiday of a lifetime! Lauren Connors Visited November 2014

Two tailor-made treks in the Nepal regions

" We have been trekking once with Dipak, when he was our guide on two tailor-made treks in the Nepal regions of Annapurna and Everest. We had booked these treks through an agency, and we were so impressed with Dipak's work that we stayed in contact with him. Two years later we went on a third trek..."
