Places of great interest around Durbar Square / Old Palace Courtyard:
Durbar square within a modern city in the close backdrop of ancient heritage with uncountable monuments. Tour takes to the house of the Living Goddess (Kumari Ghar), the ferocious Kal Bhairab, a red monkey god.

The mid-century monuments are the greatest masterpiece of the Malla regime, the Durbar Square full of colorful life witness temple of Kasthamandap. Which was built from the wood of a single tree hence Kathmandu's name derived from this historical temple. Kathmandu Durbar Square important place to visit a historical museum mementos of past different Shah Kings.

The exciting tour within Kathmandu city:
After an exciting tour of Durbar Square, a short drive to Swayambhunath located west of the city. The famous landmark of Nepal an old Stupa of more than 2,600 years stands on a hillock above the valley floor.

The Great Stupa of Swayambhunath, listed in the World Heritage Site with all-seeing eyes of Lord Buddha around four cardinal. This scenic green hill a mosaic of small Chaitiya and pagoda temples houses various Buddhism monuments.

From Swayambhunath great views of Kathmandu city and the valley, on a clear day, one can overlook snow peaks towards the north. 
From Swayambhunath after a wonderful moment, the tour extends heading east of Kathmandu city to Bouddhanath, stands a beautiful Buddhist shrine. 

Bouddhanath, Asia’s largest colossal stupa built-in 6th Century A.D. by King Man Deb, a huge Buddhist monument. A series of three terraces a relevant shape of a lotus flower when viewed from air distance. It is a holy site for all Buddhists the Stupa is surrounded by a circular market, also known as little Tibet.

The great Stupa with Lord Buddha's eyes on four directions, this spiritual site embraces the authentic philosophy of Mahayana. One of the main groups of Buddhism known as Lamaism in Nepal, Sikkim, Ladakh, Bhutan, and Tibet. 
Bouddhanath, one of the interesting and exciting places on the Kathmandu Heritage Tour from here a short drive to Pashupatinath Temple. The main hub of the Hindu religion, located south of Bouddhanath, and east of Kathmandu city. 

An important Hindu pagoda temple with golden roofs, and four silver doors the temple of Lord Shiva. Located on the bank of the Bagmati River, Pashupatinath Temple is the nerve center for all Hindus. Once a year thousands of pilgrims from India and Nepal visits ‘Shiva-Ratri’, the birth anniversary of Lord Shiva.

Which falls in February as per the Hindu Lunar calendar, an exciting holy place to observe devotees in worship. Pashupatinath Temple a large complex, one can spend time on the opposite bank of the river and witness religious activities.

After completing an exciting Kathmandu Heritage Tour, a short drive takes you back to the hotel.  

Important Note

Best Season for Kathmandu Heritage Tour:
Nepal for all seasons, however, the best time is in spring, autumn, and winter seasons, for this type of leisure tour. Spring starts from March to May and autumn/fall from September to November and winter begins from December to February. The most favorable time is spring and autumn seasons, during spring clear day with longer sunlight hours. Cold in the late afternoon, night, and morning time, days are pleasant for a pleasant tour. Autumn is another best season when days a clear for views and tour, much cold in the morning, late afternoon and night time with short sun-light hours. 

The winter season is also a good time for a tour, where days are clear with blue sky but can be very cold morning and night time with short sunlight.

Important Notes: 
Please remember, Mountain Everest Flight operates in good times of the season when days are clear for views of Himalayan peaks. Sometimes even at the best time of the year can get cloudy with an overcast day, where the flight can be delayed or canceled. For this type of inconvenience, Trekking Planner will try their best within the control of the company will try next morning. In case of cancellation payment for the flight will be refundable, but a charge of transportation to and from the hotel/airport will be levied.

On tour as per the season-wise, a proper dressed code should be maintained especially visiting religious sites like temples and monasteries. Your guide will inform you of the guideline required on places of visit, including buying souvenirs guide will advise.

Trip Itinerary

05:00 am/05:30 am receive from hotel, transfer to airport 

  • Flight from Kathmandu to the mountain around 06:30 am about 1 hrs flight
  • Once you fly over 25000 ft you will be able to see all the mountain range of Nepal including Mt Everest.
  • Fly back to Kathmandu
  • Receive from airport and transfer to hotel.

Morning approx. 10:00 a.m.  departure from the hotel for a short drive in the heart of Kathmandu city, and then a short walk to Kathmandu Durbar Square.

The Kathmandu Durbar Square or Palace Courtyard teemed with historical and religious ancient beautiful pagoda styled monuments. This exciting area listed in UNESCO World Heritage Sites, where some of the building was destroyed during 2015 earthquake. However, renovation is taking place.

Tour takes you to the following interesting places, the Residence of Living Goddess (Kumari Ghar), known as Temple of Kumari, and the beautiful quadrangle court with a Buddhist stupa in the center.

The residential quarters, located above from the courtyard where the Chaste Virgin Living Goddess called KUMARI resides, a magnificent carved wooden balconies and window screens on this traditional building.

The young Living Goddess or Kumari gives the audience and bless you from her beautifully decorated windows.

Tour of Hanuman Dhoka, historic seat of past royals, the old Royal Palace Complex dedicated to Malla and late Shah Monarch, designated as a World Heritage Site.

11: 00 a.m. or 11:30 a.m. drive to Pashupatinath temple a less than hour tour

After a wonderful tour of old Durbar Square, walk to the car park and drive east from the city to reach the holy Hindu temple of Pashupatinath a marvelous three-tier golden pagoda rooftop, the temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Non-Hindu is not allowed to enter the main temple premises, however guide will take to a nice spot. Where you can catch a view of the temple and religious activities of pilgrims and devotees, on the opposite of Bagmati River.

The temple, flooded with pilgrims on the day of ‘Shiva-Ratri’. (Birth anniversary of Lord Shiva).

12: 00 p.m. or 12:30 a.m. Drive to Bouddhanath Stupa for an hour tour

From Pashupatinath temple, a short drive to reach a beautiful complex at Bouddhanath huge Stupa.

Listed in World Heritage Sites and as well the largest Buddhist shrine and a Stupa of South Asia.

For Buddhists, it is called a Chorten which was built in the 6th century A.D. by King Man Deb. Perched on three tiers terraces, when seen from above or with bird eye view takes a relevant shapes of a lotus flower.

A sacred monument for Buddhist followers this huge Stupa encircled by prayer wheels and colorful market, also known as small Tibet due to local who lives around the area of Tibetan origin and with similar culture.

The most interesting is Lord Buddha's eyes on four cardinal direction that gives a vivid flash around four cardinal directions, the area around with many Mahayana Buddhism faith monasteries.

1: 00 p.m. or 1:30 p.m. Lunch break at a nice restaurant around Bouddhanath

Enjoying, pleasant and interesting time, the guide will take you to a nice restaurant within the Bouddhanath complex. Where you can enjoy lunch with the backdrop of Bouddhanath Stupa.

2: 00 p.m to 2:30 p.m: Drive to Swambhunath Stupa for an hour tour.

Bouddhanath Stupa, drive takes you to wonderful site at Swambhunath Stupa perched on a hillock surround with green forest where many Rhesus monkey dwells, and thus the name Monkey Temple.

2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. At Swayambhunath Stupa for an hour visit.

Swambhunath Stupa, dates back as far to 460 A.D. stands above Kathmandu west of the valley and city rim, a famous landmark of the country. Enjoy grand views of Kathmandu city and the valley with snow peaks in the north.

Swayambhunath and the Stupa with fascinating mystical eyes of Lord Buddha on the four cardinals, visit the monastery with the largest image of Sakyamuni Buddha, behind the hill a small temple dedicated to Lord Manjushree the patron god of Kathmandu valley.

Who drained the lake with a mighty sword and made the valley possible for people to settle on the fertile land.

3:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.: End of the tour and back at the hotel.
