Spring (March to May).

  • Weather: Spring is among the best times to visit Nepal's cities. The weather is mild and comfortable, with warm days and cool nights.
  • Clear Skies: The skies are usually clear during this time, providing excellent visibility of city landmarks and surrounding mountains.
  • Flowers and Greenery: Spring is the blooming season, and many gardens and squares are adorned with colorful flowers and lush greenery.
  • Festivals: During this season, local festivals like Holi and Nepali New Year can be seen.

Autumn (September to November).

  • Weather: Autumn is considered the peak tourist season in Nepal. The weather is stable, with clear skies and comfortable temperatures.
  • Mountain Views: The mountain views are spectacular, making it an excellent time for sightseeing and photography.
  • Favorable Conditions: The dry weather makes exploring cities and their attractions more enjoyable, with minimal rain chances.
  • Cultural Celebrations: Dashain and Tihar, two major Hindu festivals, fall during this time, offering an opportunity to experience Nepal's rich cultural celebrations.

Both seasons are great for city tours, but it's essential to consider the altitude of the cities you plan to visit. For example, Kathmandu and Pokhara have lower elevations and milder weather, while places like Lumbini and Chitwan might have slightly different weather patterns due to their location.

It's worth noting that while spring and autumn are the most popular times to visit, Kathmandu and Pokhara can be seen at any time of the year. The Monsoon Season (June to August) brings heavy rain and is generally not recommended for city tours due to the potential for muddy conditions and transportation disruptions.

      Swayambhunath Temple

Your first destination in the Seven Heritage Kathmandu Tour is the Swayambhunath temple. Upon reaching the Swayambhunath temple, your guide will direct you to the prominent location. The Swayambhunath temple, located on the southern side of the valley, is perched on a hilltop offering panoramic views of the city.

There are multiple entrances to the hilltop stupa; however, the most notable one is the 365-step staircase, which represents each day of the year. The Swayambhunath temple is also known as the Monkey Temple. The name is given due to the many holy monkeys in and around the premises. Similarly, in Sanskrit, Swayambhu means self-sprung or self-established. The temple blends Hinduism and Buddhism and showcases various temples, sculptures, stupas, monasteries, and a library. The top attractions that visitors can see during the Swayambhunath stupa visit are:

      • Harati temple: On the northwest side of the stupa, a two-story pagoda-style temple gilded with gold is dedicated to Goddess Harati, the protector of Children.
